Chapter 6

Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley, KD Lang, singers

I could ramble on about a song with a beautifully written melody or perhaps shed some unsolicited light on the thought provokingly ingenious lyrics...

...or maybe draw attention to both these very different but equally poignant and effective performances for Jeff Buckley sings with the voice of someone whose love has recently gone deeply south – while KD Lang’s is the pensive voice after the painful realization, trying to understand what happened.

Or maybe it’s enough to say this is a piece of music by two artists that stops time for me with each listening.

And isn’t that one of the things music should do to and for us; to grab our attention, still us and alter our perspective and perception of time always towards truth?
